Fraud awareness events

Police in Sunderland and South Tyneside have joined up with Barclays to help people to protect themselves against fraudsters.

Staff from Northumbria Police's Crime Prevention Team will be at various branches in South Shields, Sunderland and Houghton over the next few weeks to offer crime prevention advice.

They will offer advice on how to avoid falling victim to fraud and scams as well as a host of other issues include spotting fake emails, buying safely online, rogue traders and postal fraud.

They will also discuss doorstep crime prevention including courier fraud, distraction burglary and cold calling.

Details of the events are as follows:

Thursday, September 8  - Barclays, King Street, South Shields, between 10am and 12pm.

Tuesday, September 13  - Barclays, Newbottle Street Houghton, between 10am and 12pm.

Friday September 16   - Barclays, Front Street, Hetton, between 10am and 12pm.

Thursday September 22 - Barclays, Fawcett Street, Sunderland, between 10am and 12pm.
