43-year-old man assaulted in Newcastle

Police are appealing for information after a 43-year-old man was assaulted in Newcastle.

The incident happened at 4.45am in the early hours of Friday September 9. The injured man was in Dixy Chicken when there was an altercation between him and two other men, he was then attacked outside Dixy Chicken on the corner of Westmoreland Road and Waterloo Street.

After the attack he walked towards Waterloo Street when the same two men approached him and attacked him again knocking him to the ground

He was taken to hopsital with significant injuries.

One of the offenders is described as wearing a blue American football style top with the number 55 on. The second offender is described as wearing a white top.

Police are appealing for witnesses and asking anyone with information to get in contact with police.
