A Newcastle man has been convicted of a series of historic sexual offences.
James Strong, who is 60 and from Cowgate, was found guilty of six indecent assaults against a child following a trial at Newcastle Crown Court on June 30.
The incidents occurred in the West Denton area in 1993 and 1994.
On September 9 he appeared at Newcastle Crown Court where he was handed a two year suspended prison sentence and a ten year Sex Offenders register requirement.
DC Mary Farrell, who was the officer in charge of the case, said: "I hope this case demonstrates how seriously the force take all reports of sexual offences regardless of when they happened and how we will always look to take action against those committing these types of offences."
