Police investigating a city centre assault that happened in August are appealing for help to trace a potential witness.

In the early hours of Sunday, August 21, a 33-year-old man was stabbed outside Lloyds bank at Haymarket Metro Station.

He suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries and received hospital treatment.

Three men were arrested in connection with the incident, two have been charged with wounding and are due to appear at court.

Officers investigating the incident are appealing for a potential witness to the offence to come forward and contact them.

The man was in Northumberland Street at the time of the incident and may have information that could help with enquiries.

He is a white male with short dark hair and who was wearing a Black jacket.

This man, or anyone who thinks they know who he might be is asked to contact police on 101 quoting reference number 11 21/08/16.

We do have a CCTV image of the witness and we will consider releasing it to the public if we are unable to locate him from this appeal.
