Barn fire in Newcastle

Police are appealing for information after a large barn fire in Newcastle.

At 3:15am on Sunday, September 18, police received a report of a large barn on fire at Morley Hill farm on Coach Lane, Hazelrigg.

Fire services attended and the fire was brought under control. It was allowed to burn out safely and wasn't completely extinguished until Wednesday, Sept 21.

Enquiries into the fire are ongoing and officers believe it was started maliciously.

Police want to speak to anyone who saw any suspicious people or vehicles in the area around the barn anytime that evening / early morning.
