Boy assaulted in Newcastle

Police are appealing for witnesses after an assault in Newcastle.

Between 12:30pm and 12:40pm on Friday, September 23, a 17-year-old boy was assaulted in New Bridge Street outside of the St Vincent De Pauls premises.

Two males approached the boy, one of them punched him and knocked his cap from his head. They then stole his cap and made off.

A number of people were stood at the bus stop in New Bridge Street at the time of the incident and may have witnessed the attack.

These people, or anyone who saw what happened, are asked to contact police on 101 quoting reference number 539 23/09/16.
