Attempted robbery in Byker

Police are appealing for information after an attempted robbery in Byker.

At 10:10pm on Wednesday, September 28, a 29-year-old man was walking in Shields Road when he was approached by a man asking for money.

The man then picked up a stone and attempted to hit the victim. Thankfully the victim was able to flee the scene uninjured.

The offender is described as being white, in his late 20s or early 30s, of medium build and around 5ft 10ins tall. He had short brown hair and was wearing a blue hooded Adidas tracksuit with red stripes.

Enquiries are ongoing into the incident and anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting reference number 520 05/10/16.
