Mobile stolen in street robbery

Police are appealing for witnesses to a street robbery in Blyth.

It happened between 6.20pm and 6.45pm on Saturday, October 8, just off Newsham Road.

A 17-year-old male was walking along the cut known locally as Joe Percy cut going towards Newsham Road when he was approached by a man with a knife who threatened him and demanded his phone.

The offender stole the phone, a Samsung Galaxy Edge mobile, before making off towards the sports centre. The teenager was shaken but otherwise unhurt.

The offender is described as a white man, 6 feet tall, medium, build with a local accent. He was wearing a black hooded jumper with the hood up.

Police are appealing for witnesses, anyone who was in the area and who may have seen or heard anything suspicious, is asked to contact police.
