Assault in Cramlington

Police are appealing for witnesses following an assault in Cramlington.

It happened on a footpath known locally as the 'Black Path' on Crow Hall Lane 10.25pm, on Thursday, October 6.

A 22-year-old woman walking on the path was approached by a man who spoke to her and then punched her in the face before making off towards the nearby wooded area.

The woman was shocked and suffered swelling to her face.

The offender is described as a man who was wearing dark coloured clothing, with a hooded jacket.

Police are appealing for witnesses, anyone who was in the area and who may have seen or heard anything suspicious, is asked to contact police.
