Appeal after attempted robbery in Newcastle

Police are appealing for information after an attempted robbery in Newcastle.

At around 10.25pm on Saturday evening a male entered Morrisons garage on Two Ball Lonnen, Cowgate, and threatened a member of staff with a knife.

He demanded they hand over cash but left the store empty handed and fled in the area of Two Ball Lonnen

The staff member was not harmed but left very shaken by the incident.

Police enquiries are ongoing but officers are now appealing for any witnesses or anyone with any information that may help the investigation to get in touch.

The offender was wearing a balaclava but is described as slim build and around 6 ft tall. He was wearing a distinctive blue and red striped jacket, dark trousers and white trainers.

Extra officers are on patrol in the area to carry out further enquiries and reassure any concerned members of the public.
