Appeal after serious collision in Jarrow

Police are appealing for information after a serious collision in South Tyneside.

At around 8.24am this morning (Thursday) police received a report of a collision between a white Ford Focus and a cyclist in Jarrow near to the Tyne Tunnel approach.

Officers attended and found that the incident had occurred on the roundabout junction with the A185 and Priory Road.

The driver of the Ford Focus was not injured but the 55-year-old male cyclist was taken to hospital by paramedics with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

He remains in hospital at this time but officers are now appealing for any witnesses to the collision to come forward.
