Police are appealing for information after vandals sprayed graffiti at a play area in Chapel House.

Between midday Saturday, October 15, and 9:30am Sunday, October 16, graffiti was sprayed onto the path and play equipment at Barbondale play area at Barbondale Lonnen.

Further graffiti, believed linked, was also found at Chapel House shops.

The damage will cause hundreds of pounds of taxpayers money to clean and repair and officers are warning those responsible that they face police action when caught.

Neighbourhood Sergeant for the area, Pinner Rana, said: "We are checking CCTV in the area to try and find who is responsible for this mindless vandalism. We will be visiting local schools in the area and speaking to local youths about the damage. We've stepped up patrols in the area around where the damage was committed in order to prevent any further offences and reassure local residents that we are taking this matter seriously.

"If anyone recognises the graffiti tags in the images then I'd ask them to contact us with any information. If anyone sees people spraying graffiti then please report this to us straight away and we will take action. This is costing communities money and ourselves and the local authority are keen to put a stop to it."

Anyone with any information into the graffiti is asked to contact police on 101 quoting reference number 371 16/10/16.
