Taxi driver assaulted in Newcastle

Police are appealing for information after a taxi driver was assaulted in Newcastle.

Around 3:30am on Sunday, October 16, a 56-year-old male taxi driver was driving in Mosley Street, turning left into St Nicholas Street, when a man stepped out into the middle of the road and in front of his car.

The man refused to move and the taxi driver got out of his vehicle. The man then assaulted him, punching him in the face repeatedly before making off.

The driver suffered a broken nose as a result of the attack.

The attacker is described as being white, around 5ft 8ins tall, in his late teens and was wearing a blue shirt and jeans.
