Police are appealing for information after a burglary in Gateshead.
Around 1am on Wednesday, October 26, intruders got into the roof of a house in Claremont North Avenue.
They were disturbed by the occupants of the property and after confronting them, the homeowner, a 26-year-old man, was assaulted. He suffered a fractured ankle in the process.
The partner of the owner fled the house and got into her car. She drove away from the property but was followed by the two intruders who also got into a car and tried to crash into her.
She was able to get away and report the incident to police. She was left shaken but uninjured by the incident.
Officers attended and after searching the house they found a cannabis farm in the loft of the property. A 26-year-old man has been arrested in connection with this.
Enquiries are ongoing to trace the intruders.
Officers believe the car they used was a red saloon style vehicle that looked like it had been lowered. It had a large bore exhaust pipe that was very noisy and blue Halogen lights. Officers are appealing for anyone with any information to contact them on 101 quoting reference number 55 26/10/16.
Extra patrols are being carried out in the area today to speak to residents and check for CCTV opportunities.
