Officers investigating a number of burglaries in West Denton have arrested two people.

Overnight between Tuesday, October 25, and Wednesday, October 26, seven houses and garages were broken into in the Gofton Walk, Milecastle Court, Linbridge Drive, Rosedale Court, Hillhead Parkway and Gracefield Close areas.

Enquiries are ongoing and officers have arrested two people on suspicion of burglary. The 30-year-old man and 24-year-old woman have been bailed pending further enquiries.

A number of stolen items have been recovered and police are in the process of identifying them and returning them to their owners.

Extra officers are carrying out patrols in the area and officers from the force's motor patrols department and dog section will be joining them this evening carrying out high visibility patrols and passing on crime prevention advice to residents.

Homeowners are urged to be vigilant and ensure their homes, garages, sheds and cars are locked at all times. Make sure any security devices like lighting, locks and alarms are used.

If anyone has any information regarding the burglaries or sees anyone acting suspiciously where they live, contact the police on 101.
