Robbery at convenience store in Hebburn

Police are appealing for witnesses after a robbery at a convenience store in Hebburn.

The robbery happened at 6.15pm yesterday evening (Wednesday November 9) at Rays Convenience Store in Mountbatten Avenue.

A man went into the store wearing a mask and threatened a member of staff with a knife. He stole cash, tobacco and cigarettes before making off.

The member of staff was not injured.

The offender is described as 6ft 2inches tall, medium build, wearing a black ski mask with the eyes cut out, a black jacket, black bottoms, white trainers and marigold gloves.

Reassurance patrols are being carried out in the area and enquiries into the robbery are on-going.
