Attempted shop robbery in Blyth

Police are appealing for witnesses following an attempted shop robbery in Blyth.

It happened at Norvell store on Renwick Road in the Northumberland town at approximately 8.35pm on Sunday, November 20.

A masked man armed with a knife and a metal bar entered the store and approached a member of staff and demanded cash. He was refused and the offender left empty handed and went down Bowes Street. No one was injured.

The offender is described as a white man in his 20s of medium height wearing a black balaclava and carrying a knife and metal bar.

Police are appealing for witnesses, anyone who was in the area and who may have seen or heard anything suspicious, is asked to contact police.
