Appeal after theft at Jesmond Metro station

Police are appealing for information after a theft at a metro station in Newcastle.

At around 8.30pm last night (Tuesday) police received a report that a 51-year-old woman had her bag stolen on the concourse of Jesmond Metro station.

The woman was pushed to the ground by the male offender during the incident but did not suffer any serious injuries.

Officers attended but the man had fled the station by the main entrance. Enquiries into the incident are ongoing and officers are now appealing for witnesses to come forward.

The offender is described as white, around 5ft9in tall, and was wearing a khaki duffell jacket and bobble hat.
