Police issue CCTV appeal after city centre assault.

Around 3am on Sunday, October 23, a 24-year-old man was standing in Collingwood Street, outside of Revolution, when he was approached from behind and punched.

He fell to the floor and suffered a head injury and a broken jaw.

Enquiries are ongoing into the attack and officers are releasing an image taken by a quick thinking member of public who was in the area at the time of attack.

They managed to get a photograph of two people fleeing the scene shortly after the assault.

Officers want to identify and speak to the pair, believed to be a man and a woman, as they may have information that could help with the investigation.

The image only shows the man and woman from behind and while it doesn't show their faces, it does clearly show their height, build and the clothing they were wearing and this information might be enough for someone to be able to come forward with information that could help us.

Anyone who recognises them or who has any information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting reference number 200 23/10/16
