Van driver robbed in Jesmond

Police are appealing for information after a van was stolen during a robbery in Jesmond.

At 5:29pm on Tuesday, December 6, a van delivery driver was in Osborne Road when he was approached by three men on two motorbikes.

When the delivery driver got out of his vehicle one of the men got off one of the bikes and grabbed the keys for the van from him.

He then stole the white Transit van and made off in company with the two motorbikes.

The three men were wearing all black clothing and motorbike helmets.

Enquiries are ongoing into this offence and officers are in the area carrying out CCTV checks and house to house enquiries.

The area around Osborne Road was busy at the time of the incident and officers are appealing for anyone who might have seen the motorbikes or anything suspicious to contact them on 101 quoting reference number 770 06/12/16.
