Police are appealing for information after an incident in Walker.

At 4:20pm on Thursday, December 8, police were called to a report of a disturbance outside of the Foss Hotel pub on the Fossway.

A group of men, thought to be around eight or nine, drove to the pub in a white Vauxhall Vivaro van and got out and attacked a man who was standing outside of the premises.

They were armed with bats, metal bars and knives and after the assault they damaged a number of the pub's windows.

The men then got back into the van and fled the scene. A gold coloured Range Rover was also seen following the van.

Both vehicles were later found nearby abandoned having been involved in a collision. The vehicles have been seized by police.

The 30-year-old man injured during the attack is currently in hospital receiving treatment to a stab wound and a fractured skull.

A woman who was also standing outside of the pub was also injured during the incident and attended hospital for treatment. She has since been released.

Police believe that those involved in the incident are all known to each other and enquiries are ongoing.

Extra officers are carrying out patrols in the area today and over the weekend speaking to local residents and making house to house enquiries.
