Police are appealing for witnesses following two incidents in the Alnwick area.

The first happened between 2am and 10am on Friday, December 16, at a house in Glanton Village. Thieves attempted to get in through the rear patio doors, but may have been disturbed when a dog barked, and left empty handed.

A second incident happened between 6pm and 7pm on Sunday, December 18, when thieves forced the door on a house in the Beanley area of Alnwick, causing slight damage to the doorframe. Again nothing was taken.

Police are reminding residents to be vigilant, to keep homes secure and to report any suspicious activity to police.

Anyone with information about either incident is asked to call police on 101, quoting reference number 250 of 19/12/16 or ring the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
