Gateshead man convicted of sexual offence

A Gateshead man has been jailed after being convicted of a sexual offence.

Scott Lee McKenzie, who is 28 and from the Wrekenton area of Gateshead, appeared at Newcastle Crown Court on Friday, January 13, having been charged with one count of Sexual Assault by Digital Penetration on a four-year-old girl.

He pleaded not guilty to the offences and following a trial he was found guilty and sentenced to serve nine years in prison.

McKenzie will also be added to the sex offender register for life.

The offences happened in the Gateshead area between 2014 and 2015.
