CCTV appeal after city centre attempted robbery

Police are issuing CCTV images following an attempted robbery in Newcastle.

At 9:20pm on Thursday, January 19, three men entered a shop in North Terrace in Newcastle city centre.

Two of the men approached the counter and one of them produced a small axe style weapon and demanded money. The third man stood at the doorway and kept watch.

The staff member refused and all three left the store empty handed.

The man with the axe was wearing a distinctive green Carbrini hooded top,  the second man a green hooded top and the man who stood at the door was wearing grey Adidas jogging bottoms with the word

'Adidas' printed on the rear of the left leg.

Enquiries are ongoing into the incident and officers are releasing CCTV images of two men who they want to identify and speak to about the incident.
