Barrasford Beavers in Hexham recently paid a visit their local police station.

A total of 34 youngsters aged 5-8-years came to the town's police station last week and were given tours of the station and went into the cell complex.

They sat down with neighbourhood officers and found out about how the team police their community and help them and their families to stay safe.

The youngsters got to try on some police kit and had a good look around a police van to see how the lights and sirens work.

PC Barry Emery, from West Tynedale Neighbourhood Policing Team said: "The youngsters were very interested in having a good look round and particularly enjoyed trying on the helmets and seeing inside the van.

"They really enjoyed themselves and asked us lots of questions and were very well behaved. I'm sure there's some budding police officers among them after their visit."
