Police officer dismissed after being found guilty of serious criminal offences.

PC Paul Sharp, 34, from the North Tyneside area was dismissed by Northumbria Police on Wednesday February 8, 2017 after being found guilty of two counts of making indecent images of children and one count of possession of extreme pornography.

Paul Sharp had previously appeared at North Tyneside Magistrates Court on Wednesday, January 18, 2017, where he was sentenced to a total of 36 weeks imprisonment suspended for 12 months.

Detective Superintendent Janice Hutton of Professional Standards Department said: "We completely condemn the actions of PC Paul Sharp. Both we and the public quite rightly expect the highest standards from our police officers and police staff.”

"When the behaviour of one of our officers or staff falls below our high standards we investigate thoroughly and take appropriate action which in this case led to Paul Sharp being dismissed from Northumbria Police.”
