Man found injured in Sunderland

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was found with head injuries in a Sunderland street.

It happened on Bramwell Road at approximately 1.05pm, on Saturday, March 4. The 29-year-old male pedestrian was taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital where he has been detained, his condition is not life threatening.

Officers are carrying out enquiries to establish how he came by his injuries. It is not yet clear if he has been struck by a vehicle or if he has been assaulted.

There are reports of a silver coloured Citroen type vehicle having been seen in the area at the time of the incident.

Officers want to speak to anyone with information about how the man sustained his injuries and anyone with information about the vehicle and its occupants.

Police are appealing for witnesses, anyone who was in the area and who may have seen or heard anything suspicious, is asked to contact police.

A 24-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with the incident and is in custody helping police with their enquiries.
