Attempted robbery in Town End Farm

Police are appealing for information after an attempted robbery in Sunderland.

The incident happened at 9.35pm on Saturday, March 18 on Brunswick Road in Town End Farm. A man approached a woman, in her 60s, who was stood at a bus stop in the street when the offender threatened her with a knife.

The woman screamed and the offender ran off. He ran off along Brusnwick Road towards Hylton Lane.

He is described as a white male, 5ft 9inches tall, aged 18/19 years old, slim build, wearing a black padded jacket, with short dark hair.

The woman was not injured during the incident.

Officers are carrying out enquiries and are appealing for any witnesses.

Anyone who was in the area on Saturday night and saw a man as described, or saw anything that may help police with enquiries, is asked to contact Northumbria Police on 101 quoting reference 1237 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
