Appeal after fight in Newcastle on Easter weekend

Police are appealing for information after an assault in Newcastle on Easter weekend.

At around 4.15am on Easter Sunday police received a report that a man had been assaulted on Fenkle Street in Newcastle city centre.

Two groups had got in a disagreement during which a 36-year-old man was assaulted.

He was taken to hospital with a serious ear injury but was later discharged after undergoing surgery.

An investigation was launched and two men - both aged 29 - were arrested by police in connection with the assault.

Enquiries into the incident are ongoing and police have now appealed for anyone who may have seen the incident to get in touch.
