Appeal for information after Washington robbery

Police are appealing for witnesses after a robbery in Washington.

At around 11pm last night (Wednesday) police received a report that two men had entered the One Stop Shop on Blue House Lane armed with a hammer and a knife.

One man threatened a female staff member with a knife while the other armed offender remained at the door. £200 was stolen from the till before the offenders left the scene on foot.

One offender is described as an older, white male at around 5'11", wearing grey trainers, black jogging bottoms and a Berghaus-type jacket. The second is also described as an older white male, around 5'6" tall. He was wearing a dark grey Adidas top with blue stripes and grey Adidas tracksuit bottoms. Both were wearing scarves around their faces

Nobody was injured but the staff member was left incredibly shaken by the incident.

Officers are on patrol in the area to carry out further enquiries and reassure any concerned members of the public.

Police want to speak to anyone who may have seen the men fleeing the area or anyone who may have seen two people acting suspiciously in the area around the time of the incident.
