Newcastle street robbery

Police are appealing for witnesses following a street robbery in Gosforth.

It happened outside the Halifax Building Society, High Street in Gosforth at approximately 3.40pm on Friday, August 4.

A 53-year-old man was approached by two men armed with Stanley knives. They threatened the man and stole his cash, necklace and watch. He was shaken by the incident but was unharmed.

The offenders are described as both late teens to early 20s:

One, 5 ft 10” tall, wearing black joggers, a black hoodie with goggles attached to the hood, gloves and a local accent.

Second, white European male, wearing a Burberry scarf over his face, black Nike cap , dark blue Nike hoody, dark coloured trainers and gloves.

The pair then ran through a cut into Gosforth Central Park where they met up with a third person before running past the bowling green and out of the park.

Police are appealing for witnesses anyone who was in the area and who may have seen or heard anything suspicious is asked to contact police.
