Appeal after man assaulted in West Denton

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was assaulted with a spade in Newcastle.

The incident took place outside Sab's Barbers on Hadrian Road in West Denton at around 1.20pm last Thursday (Aug 17).

Two men entered the premises and confronted a 28-year-old man who was waiting for his friend to have his hair cut.

The men have then attacked him with a spade in what appears to be an unprovoked attack. Thankfully the man did not receive any life threatening injuries.

Both of the offenders then fled the shop and made of in a blue Ford Focus.

Police attended and the man was taken to hospital for treatment by paramedics. The offenders are yet to be identified.

Enquiries into the incident are ongoing and police are now appealing for any witnesses, or anyone with information, to contact police.

Both of the offenders were wearing balaclavas during the attack.

A number of people are believed to have been in the premises at the time of the attack and police are asking for them to get in touch.
