Appeal after rape at Newcastle flats

Police have launched an investigation after a rape at flats in Newcastle.

At around 3am this morning (Friday) police received a report of concern for a woman who had been found distressed outside Knoll Court flats near to Manors.

Officers attended and the 20-year-old woman disclosed that she had been raped at an address inside the flats. She has then left and been met outside by a passer-by.

An investigation into the rape is ongoing and two men - both aged 18 - are currently assisting detectives with their enquiries.

The victim is currently receiving support from specialist officers in Northumbria Police's Safeguarding Department.

Extra officers have been in the area of Knoll Court today carrying out enquiries into the rape and to reassure anyone who has any concerns.
