Witness appeal after collision in Byker

Police are appealing for witnesses following a collision in Byker.

At around 6pm, November 29, police received a report of a collision that occurred on the Shields Road Bypass, Byker (A193) next to the roundabout junction with Fossway and Union Road.

A Grey Fiat 500 collided with a 51-year-old woman pedestrian who was walking on the west bound carriageway.

The woman was taken to hospital with serious injuries where she remains in stable condition.

Police enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances of the collision.

Sgt Phil Emmerson, Motor Patrols, Northumbria Police said: “We urge anyone with any information to come forward, the smallest of detail can be vital.
