Police have arrested a 13 year old boy in relation to the damage to the vehicles in Whickham on Thursday last week (January 11).

Police received reports of five vehicles being damaged after stones and rocks were thrown by a group of teenagers, who were hiding behind a wall next to Chase Park, Whickham.

Following these reports our Neighbourhood Policing teams worked hard to catch those involved.

Inspector Ronnie Lowes said: “We took these reports very seriously and worked hard over the weekend to get to the bottom of this enquiry. Though reports stated that there were a group of children involved, our investigation found that only one person was actually throwing objects. We’re now working with the Youth Offending Team to discuss suitable charges.”

“We take reports like this very seriously, these incidents were very concerning for residents of Whickham, and drivers who had missiles thrown at them were very shaken up.”

“By getting to the bottom of these reports and by making this arrest we are showing that we are clamping down on unacceptable behaviour like this.”
