Appeal for information following assault in Blyth

Police are seeking information after a male was assaulted in Blyth.

At around 11pm on Friday evening, a 39-year-old man was walking along Cowpen Road in Blyth between Briardale Road and McDonalds when he was set upon by three unknown males.

Emergency services attended and the male was taken to hospital with a head injury, as well as cuts and grazes due to the offenders punching and kicking him. The injuries aren’t described as life-threatening.

The offenders fled the scene following the incident and the victim was unable to provide a description.

Enquiries into the incident are ongoing and police are now appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time, and may have seen the three males, to get in touch.

Extra police officers will be on patrol in the area to carry out enquiries and to reassure any members of the local community concerned about the attack.
