Northumbria’s Police Headquarters is looking more like an art gallery thanks to the skills of local children.

Wallsend neighbourhood cops welcomed back the special guests to police headquarters to thank them for brightening up the station.

The children had previously visited Middle Engine police station ahead of the popular ‘Family Fun Day’ where there were tasked with an arty ‘colouring-in’ challenge.

Now the group, who are made up of vulnerable and disabled children, have been invited back by officers to see their masterpieces on display in the front office.

Sergeant Jon Caisley and PCSO Jennifer Charlton presented each of the budding artists with a certificate and police teddy to thank them for their efforts.

Sergeant Caisley of Wallsend Neighbourhood Policing Team said:  “It was an absolute pleasure to have such a brilliant group of kids back to visit us at police HQ.

“We couldn’t be happier with the new artwork and photos on display for all visitors and staff to admire – I think it really brightens up the place!

“Hopefully we will see the group again at next year’s event!”
