Neighbourhood Priorities

The following Neighbourhood priorities relate to your area:

1. October 2018 Youth Anti Social Behaviour (ASB)

"What you told us"

Youth ASB was on the increase in the Bedlington Station area.

"What are we doing about it"

Bedlington Neighbourhood Policing Team is tackling this issue by way of increased high visibility patrols, implementation of a dispersal order and by working with partners to educate local youths.

''Keeping you informed"

Youths responsible have been identified and are facing prosecution for public order offences. This has already resulted in a fall in the number of ASB incidents being reported in the area.

Updates will be put on the Bedlington Sector web pages outlining successes and the positive action taken against individuals.  Residents will be kept informed at local meetings and through leaflet drops about the activity of patrolling officers.

2. October 2018 Speeding vehicles in the Bedlington Town area.

"What you told us"

The local community has raised concerns in relation to speeding motor vehicles travelling on our roads through the same towns and villages across the sector. Speeding motor vehicles is a Neighbourhood Priority as a result of correspondence from residents, Police and community engagement events in Bedlington and throughout the sectors villages.

"What are we doing about it"

The Neighbourhood Team will continue to work in conjunction with the Safer Communities Partnership to make the roads a safer place to ride and drive. Community Speed watch Volunteers and police vehicles will continue to patrol the areas to monitor the speed of traffic across the Bedlington area in locations identified by residents in the community, at peak times to:

- target the motorists in those locations highlighted

- provide a high profile presence for local residents and a deterrent and enforcement to motorists

- advise or warn drivers and riders where appropriate

 ''Keeping you informed"

Our work is regularly backed up with media releases to remind road users to reduce their speed, be mindful of other motorists, pedestrians and residents.

Residents will be informed of successes via the Northumbria Police sector website, local media, officers attending community meetings, and patrolling officers.

"What we doing about it"
